Stephen studied at the Royal College of Music with Susan Milan, where he won the Geoffrey Tankard and Allen John Warren Flute Prizes. Whilst working at the University of North Texas as a Teaching Fellow, he continued studies with Dr Mary Karen-Clardy and Jim Walker.
As well as having taught privately, at numerous schools, international summer courses and specialist music schools, Stephen has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.
Currently, Stephen teaches at Latymer Upper School, St Paul's Barnes, Notting Hill and Ealing, St Benedict's, Ealing Junior Music School. He also coaches several ensembles as well as the wind section at Ealing Youth Orchestra.
Previous experience has included Hounslow Music Service, Harrow Music Service, Harrow School for Young Musicians, Rikkyo School, Hindhead Music Centre, Sevenoaks School, The Purcell School, Queenswood School.

Stephen has adjudicated competitions at the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department, Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, given workshops at St Paul's School, The King's School (Canterbury), run masterclasses at Hindhead Music Centre and been the instrumental director at Berwang International Holiday Music Course.

As a freelance musician, Stephen has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, European Chamber Opera, Holland Park Opera, London Arts Orchestra, CBSO, Philharmonia, the West End Production of Mary Poppins, D'Oyly Carte Opera.

He has recorded for film and television and has been the soloist at weddings, funerals (inc. artist Howard Hodgkin) and celebrations (inc. The Duke of Edinburgh).
